Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors

In general, corrosion begins when a metal is exposed to moisture in the air. Moisture works like a conductor for electrons flowing between high energy areas (cathodes) and low energy areas (anodes) on metal surfaces. This electrochemical process results in visible effects of oxidation commonly known as tarnish, corrosion or rust.

ZERUST®/EXCOR®/GARDAC® Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors

ZERUST® / EXCOR® / GARDAC® is a packaging material line with Volatile Corrosion Inhibitors – VCI. ZERUST®/EXCOR®/GARDAC®packaging materials contain patented chemicals which produce invisible, odorless and non-toxic corrosion inhibiting vapor. ZERUST® / EXCOR® / GARDAC®vapor molecules settle on exposed metal surfaces of various types of packaging and inhibit the electrochemical corrosion process.

ZERUST® technology is simple in use

It is sufficient to put metal elements into ZERUST® / EXCOR® / GARDAC® type of packaging and seal it. In two or three hours the interior of the product will become saturated with ZERUST® / EXCOR® / GARDAC vapor molecules and a strong molecular corrosion inhibiting layer will be formed on exposed metal surfaces. Next, as soon as a metal element is taken out of the packaging product, the molecular anticorrosive layer is released (evaporated) into the atmosphere leaving a clean, dry and corrosion-free element ready for use and requiring no further cleaning.
